We offer a turnkey package from obtaining planning permission through to a complete fitted out stable complex. Cairn is not just about providing a set of timber stables, we also install groundworks and concrete stable bases as well as fencing, drainage and services connections. At Cairn, we fully understand the problems Facing our customers and we aim to provide a professional yet friendly service aimed at assisting you through the whole process. Budget is often a key factor and as such we work with you to provide the very best solution. We provide fixed price quotations set out in detail to enable you to understand exactly what you are getting, from the outset. Should you wish to vary or add any elements of work, we provide written quotations in advance to ensure that you can keep tight control of your budget.

In terms of quality, we believe that in order to provide a durable and attractive set of stables, materials and workmanship are key. We only use top quality pressure treated structural grade timbers throughout the build and all of the cladding used is pressure treated for durability. Cairn hand builds each and every timber building using qualified joiners – we do not mass produce panels and hope they fit on site. Every stable block is hand finished and inspected prior to handing over to our customers. We are so confident in the quality of our stables and equestrian buildings, we offer a unique Cairn 2 year warranty for workmanship and materials.

At Cairn, we set out to provide a bespoke service to all of our customers from a simple hay barn or tack store through to an oak fronted stable complex. We can accommodate any detail, material, specification and level of fit out to suit your exact requirements so please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs. The Standard Range of stables sets out to provide a high quality hand built stable block using top quality materials. The main frames are constructed off site using pressure treated structural grade 4x2" timbers and clad with high quality ex 19mm x125mm pressure treated shiplap cladding. All of the frame joints are screwed together using treated screws to increase structural integrity and provide a durable long lasting joint.

You will note from the photos that we also provide substantial pressure treated corner and intermediate posts to secure the frames on the front elevation and enhance the aesthetic quality of the block.

The roof is supported on a structural grade frame using galvanized purlin hangers and substantial 5x2" structural grade purlins. The roof is covered in genuine Onduline Roofing with a matching ridge system to provide a long lasting and weather resistant roof. We also provide a 4' roof overhang as standard – to keep you and your horse shaded and dry.

Stable doors are constructed using traditional techniques. Each door has a braced and ledged frame with halved joints. The lower doors are ply back for added strength and all are cladded in vertical shiplap. We provide as standard heavy duty adjustable hinges to allow for ease of future adjustment (no more dragging doors), heavy Brenton bolts to both upper and lower doors, a kick-over latch to the lower door and a heavy galvanised chew strip.

Internally, the Standard Specification allows for 11mm OSB kickboarding to all stable walls to 4' high and all divisional walls are boarded on one side to eaves level. The divisional walls between tack rooms and stables are boarded to the underside of the roof sheeting for security and to help keep your tack dust free.

We are able to offer any specification of internal boarding to suit your needs – from full internal boarding, plywood lining and even oak cladding.

The Cairn Ultimate Range uses the same high quality materials as the Standard Range but increases the level of external detailing to provide a truly outstanding block of stables.

Essentially, the roof overhang is increased to 6' to enable tacking up, feeding and mucking out under a dry canopy and additional pressure treated 6x6" posts and knee braces are added for a traditional framed appearance. It is also possible to upgrade to include feature trusses to gables and opt for a traditional green oak frame with oak cladding – there is no limit to what we can do.
